Kate Brody & Lucas BernsteinCongratulations to our 2019 Michigan Qualifiers, Kate Brody & Lucas Bernstein, for advancing to the Drive, Chip & Putt National Championship at Augusta National Golf Club on April 4, 2021!

Every Kid, of Every Ability, Everywhere!
Join Us at One of Our Local Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifiers!

Drive, Chip & Putt is a free event that is open to boys and girls ages 7-15. Juniors are separated into four age divisions for both boys and girls: 7-9 years old, 10-11 years old, 12-13 years old, & 14-15 years old. Participants advance through local, sub-regional, and regional qualifiers to make it to the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club on the Sunday before the Masters.

At each qualifying level, participants hit three shots at each station, Drive, Chip & Putt, for a total of nine shots. Each shot receives a point value. There are prizes for the top three in each Skill and for the top three Overall participants. The contestant with the highest number of accumulated points will be declared the Overall Champion in their age division.

The Sub-Regional has the same format as the Local Qualifier, however, only the top two Overall participants in each age & gender division will advance to the Regional Qualifier (16 kids). At the Regional Qualifier, scores from the Sub-Regional will not be taken into account.

The Regional Qualifier has the same format as the previous two qualifiers, however, only the Overall Champion in each age & gender division will advance to the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club (8 kids).

Drive Chip & Putt Local Qualifier Application

Why Host a local Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifier?

  • You’re a champion of junior golf and a fan of Drive, Chip & Putt
  • You understand Drive, Chip & Putt is for every child, of every ability in every town
  • You see the value of hosting a Drive, Chip & Putt at your facility
  • You see an opportunity for DCP to either establish or enhance your overall youth engagement strategy
  • Being able to promote to your members/customers that the road to Augusta starts at your facility
  •  You share a vision that DCP can grow the game of golf in your community
  •  You want to help us evaluate a potential new way of delivering local qualifiers

The Drive Chip & Putt Local Qualifier structure has changed for 2021. The biggest change is PGA Professionals can now run their own Local Qualifiers, by doing this Michigan can expand from 10 to 20 Local Qualifiers, doubling our reach and deepening your engagement with each participant.

Section staff along with members of the National Drive, Chip & Putt task force will host a training day for all of our host sites to go over how to set up, competition rules, and how to run each station. As a host site, you will be shipped a small box filled with DCP equipment and tee gifts for the participants. We will be able to help support you throughout the process of running the event.

We are very excited about the opportunity to deepen your connection to the DCP families making them repeat customers at your facility along with being able to widen our reach and making DCP accessible to all families in Michigan.

Some general requirements are a place to set up the competition, either a range or a hole that is 300 yards long and 40 yards wide, and a green to allow for putting and chipping. I am happy to set up a call to talk more about the facility requirements and walk you through what hosting a DCP would look like.
