East Lansing, MI – It took an eagle on their final hole of regulation and a 3 hole playoff for the father son team of Denis Husse from Tyrone Hills Golf Course and his son Darren Husse from Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club to win the Michigan PGA Fall Pro- Pro and their first win together as a team !
Thirty teams teed it up on Wednesday in the Michigan PGA Fall Pro Pro at MSU’s Forest Akers West Golf Course. This 18 hole event featured a little different format as the two person teams played 6 holes best ball, 6 holes scramble and 6 holes modified altenate shot.
Denis and Darren took performed their best in the difficult modified alternate shot format going (-4) under in those 6 holes that included a birdie and an eagle on their final two holes , #16 and #17. This put them at (-8) under and a round of 64. Also finishing at (-8) under was the host team from Forest Akers West with professionals Bryan Harris and Chad Kurmel.
The playoff started on Hole #18 with both teams making par there using the modified alternate shot format. The playoff then went to Hole #1 where the teams tied again with par’s, this time playing the scramble format. It was on the third playoff hole, Hole #8 where Darren Husse made a birdie, 4 on this par 5 in the best ball format to clinch the win.
The defending champions – Ben Cook from Yankee Springs Golf Course and Ryan Bayer from Kent Country Club finished in third place just one shot out of the playoff with a round of 65.
