17U IMA BROOKWOOD AND 13U FLINTSTONES TEAMS NAMED 2025 MICHIGAN PGA JR. LEAGUE SECTION CHAMPIONS
Our Michigan PGA Jr. League Section Championship was held at Binder Park Golf Course on August 7th-9th, in Battle Creek, MI. With near perfect weather for all three days, our 272 All-Star players players took on the challenging three-course layout.
On Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, (7) 17u teams competed for two advancing spots into Friday afternoon’s Championship match. After finishing with a score of -6, the Great Lakes Bay Region team, coached by Doug Temple, PGA secured the first spot. Following them and securing the final spot was the IMA Brookwood team, coached by Joe Simpson, PGA with a score of -2. IMA Brookwood brought their A-game on Friday and captured 7.5 out of the 12 possible points to defeat Great Lakes Bay Region, being named the 2025 17u Michigan PGA Jr. League Section Champion.
On Friday, (27) 13u teams played for the top three spots on two of the nine-hole courses to make up the six qualifier spots for Saturday morning. For each 13u team across both courses, three of the four scores counted toward their final total. The teams who qualified from Friday on the Blue (Marsh) Course – a par 36 – included The Orchards team (-3) coached by Jeff Stalcup, PGA; the Great Lakes Bay 1 team (+4) coached by Doug Temple, PGA, and the Legacy at Hastings team (+5) coached by Lynn Janson, PGA.
On the Orange (Preserve) Course – also a par 36 – the advancing teams were the Milham Park 1 team (-4) coached by Dean Marks, PGA; the Flintstones team (-3) coached by Nick Korns, PGA, and the Bay Meadows team (E) coached by Scott Wilson, PGA.
The Saturday morning Final Six 13u qualifier ended with the top two teams finishing in a tie at (-5) on the par 35 Gray (Natural) course. Nick Korns’ team, the Flintstones, and Dean Mark’s Milham Park 1 team headed into the Championship Match that afternoon. In traditional PGA Jr. League match play format, both teams fought hard with the Flintstones ultimately securing the win with a final score of 7.5 to 4.5. They were named the 2025 13u Michigan PGA Jr. League Section Champion.
The 13u and 17u winning teams will be advancing to the PGA Jr. League Regional on September 19th-21st at Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville, OH!
