Muskegon, MI – The two hour rain delay on Monday at Muskegon Country Club did not slow down the team of Ian Ziska from American Dunes Golf Club and Adam Schumacher from Point O Woods Golf & Country Club as they captured the St Andrews Products / Club Prophet Fall Pro Pro title.
32 teams of two Michigan PGA Professionals or Associates teed it up on Monday at Muskegon in this 18 hole format that featured six holes of best ball, six holes of modified alternate shot and 6 holes of the scramble format.
It was the scramble portion that Ziska and Schumacher made their move with birdies on all 6 of those holes. This lead to a (-9) under par round of 63 and good for a 4 shot victory over 5 teams at 67.
Those teams finishing 4 shots back included Bill Clark and Tim Pearce from Birmingham CC, Ryan Lenahan and Patrick Wilkes-Krier from Kendall Academy of Golf, Jim Deiters from Midland CC and his son Austin from Midland Golf HQ, Tom Harding from Carls Golfland and his partner Frank McAuliffe from Meadowbrook CC and the team of Denis Husse from Tyrone Hills GC and his son Darren from Warwick Hills Golf & CC.
This is Ziska and Schumacher’s first win in this fairly new event that was started in 2019.
We would like to thank our host site Muskegon Country Club. The staff and club were very welcoming and helpful, and the golf course was in great shape. It had been a long time since the Michigan Section had hosted an event here and many participants had not played the course.
We would also like to thank our sponsors of this event St Andrews Products and Club Prophet. We appreciate their support of the Michigan PGA and the Tournament Program.
