Ann Arbor, MI – It took two extra holes but the team of Michigan PGA Associate Professionals Patrick Wilkes- Krier and Ryan Lenahan from the Kendall Academy of Golf won the Yamaha Golf Cars Plus / Sterling Cut Glass Pro Pro Championship presented by Blue Tees Golf on Monday at Barton Hills Country Club and Travis Pointe Country Club.

So far this year playoffs have been kind to Patrick as he found himself on the winning end of the one-hole playoff last week when the team he was on won the Club Car Spring Scramble.

64 teams of two Michigan PGA Professionals and Associates teed it up on Monday in this 36-hole best ball event held at both Barton Hills CC and Travis Pointe CC in Ann Arbor.

After Round 1 Ryan and Patrick held a one-shot lead over 3 teams after shooting a -7 under par round of 65 at Travis Pointe. One of those teams just one-shot back was the team of Ian Ziska from American Dunes Golf Club and Adam Schumacher from Point O Woods Golf & Country Club.

These two teams would be paired together for round two at Barton Hills.  It came right down to the last hole with Ian and Adam making birdie at the difficult 18th  to force the playoff. This was 1 of only 3 birdies made at the 18th hole in the afternoon.

After tying the first playoff hole it was Patrick that sank the eagle putt from the fringe to secure the victory at the par 5 10th hole at Barton Hills.

Finishing in 3rd place alone, just one shot back of the playoff was the team from Kent Country Club with professionals Ryan Bayer and Kristina Flynn. Ryan and Kristina made a nice charge shooting a -7 under par round of 65 at Travis Point in the afternoon after shooting 67 at Barton Hills in the morning round.

This is Patrick and Ryan’s first victory together in the Section. They are both PGA Associates and teaching professionals at the Kendall Academy of Golf in Ann Arbor and Ryan is new to the Section as of this March.

We would like to thank our host sited Barton Hills Country Club and Travis Pointe Country Club. Both facilities provided excellent venues and the golf courses were great despite the early season weather struggles.

We would also like to thank our title sponsors Yamaha Golf Cars Plus and Sterling Cut Glass. They have both been long time supporters of the Section and it has great to have them onsite yesterday supporting the event. We would also like to thank our new presenting sponsor in Blue Tees Golf for their support of this event and for being onsite.
