The inaugural Michigan PGA HOPE Cup was held at The Fortress in Frankenmuth, MI yesterday where we had over 60 Veterans and 17 Michigan PGA Professionals join us to celebrate the end of the PGA HOPE season!
To kick off the event, the American Legion Post 150 in Frankenmuth performed a rifle salute and the National Anthem during our opening ceremony. We also performed a unity putt to represent the value of camaraderie that the PGA HOPE program continues to provide to our Graduates.
Teams were made up of four Veterans and one PGA Professional who led them in a nine-hole scramble, followed by lunch and a meet & greet. The special guests included 4-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Detroit Red Wings, Darren McCarty, and PGA of America President, John Lindert!
Congratulations to PGA Professional, Doug Temple and his team for earning the first ever Championship title of the Michigan PGA HOPE Cup! Doug and his team of Brad Blanchard, Ricky Holbrook, Rueben Rodea, and Patrick Shannon represent our PGA HOPE Midland program held at Currie Municipal Golf Course.
We want to extend a special thank you to Garber Automotive Group for their sponsorship to make this day possible, along with digital marketing company, Make The Turn for capturing the essence of the day! We look forward to sharing the video recap in the coming weeks. Thank you to PGA Professional, Kyle Martin, and his staff at The Fortress for hosting and making our participants feel so welcomed. Thank you to our PGA Professionals for their continued support of this program and taking the time to give back to those who served. Last but not least, we want to thank our Michigan PGA HOPE Graduates for their service and the opportunity to serve them through PGA HOPE!
