Benton Harbor, MI – The team of professional Luke Emrich and his assistant Alex Reynolds from Stonewater Country Club won the Sterling Cut Glass / Winston Collection Pro Assistant title in dramatic fashion on Tuesday at the Golf Club at Harbor Shores.

With heavy rains overnight and into the morning a decision was made to delay the start of the event and cut it to 18 holes as opposed to the scheduled 36 holes in this best ball format with teams 43 teams made up of one professional and one assistant professional from the same facility.

The rain let up and the Golf Club at Harbor Shores drained well letting the grounds crew get things ready and players out on the course at 11:00am.

The golf course played long and soft, but still gave way to some low scores. At the end of the day it was the teams of Luke and Alex along with the team of professional Dan Urban and his Josh Burt from Gull Lake Country Club tied at the top with rounds of (-6) under 65.

As teams were hitting their approach shots into the first playoff hole more heavy rains and lightening came in and the playoff was delayed. This system moved through quickly and the teams were able to get back on the course.

After pars at the first, Luke Emrich hit his approach to approximately 3 feet at the par 3 second hole and made the putt clinching  their first Sterling Cut Glass / Winston Collection Pro – Assistant title.

Finishing just one shot back of the playoff with rounds of 66 were the teams of professional Steve Brady and assistant professional David Drisko from Oakland Hills Country Club and the team from Meadowbrook Country Club with professional Frank McAuliffe and assistant professional Travis Dodson.

A big thanks to the team from the Golf Club at Harbor Shores for all their work in making this event happen and proving to be a great host for this tournament.

We would also like to thank our sponsors Sterling Cut Glass and Winston Collection for sponsoring this event and their support of the Section. It was nice to have both Steve Rentschler from Sterling Cut Glass and Kevin Miller, the Michigan rep for both Sterling Cut Glass and Winston Collection onsite yesterday for the event.
