Sean Vann of GOLFTEC – Novi claimed the 2026 Michigan PGA Section Assistants Championship at Gull Lake Country Club after firing a 7-under-par 65 in the final round.
Vann, a Jackson, Michigan native and former Spring Arbor University golfer, started the day three shots off the lead following a first-round 70. First-round co-leaders Joseph Baker and Cole Meinke set the early pace with matching 5-under 67s. Things changed quickly for Vann in the second round. Starting on the back nine, he vaulted to 4-under through his first three holes, opening with back-to-back birdies before chipping in for eagle on the 338-yard, par-4 12th. Vann kept rolling with a birdie on 15 and another eagle on 18 to post 6-under before making the turn. His 36-hole total of 9-under 135 was just enough to edge out Meinke of Watermark Country Club, who posted rounds of 67 and 69 to finish at 8-under. Cody Haughton of Red Run Golf Club took third at 6-under. Vann, Meinke, and Haughton all earned qualifying spots for the 2026 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club on November 12-15, 2026 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Honorable mention of the day goes to Dominic Ciantar of Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club – he got his first hole-in-one on #15 with a pitching wedge from 131 yards!
