West Olive, MI –  The team of Professional Ron Beurmann and his Assistant Professional Patrick Humphrey from the Country Club of Jackson played two great rounds of golf on Monday finishing at -13 under for 36 holes and capturing their first Pro Assistant title !

45 teams teed it up Monday at Wuskowhan Players Club just north of Holland in this event featuring teams of a professional and an assistant professional from the same facility. Professionals also had the option to bring and team with multiple assistants.

With multiple 2nd place finishes in this event including last year, Ron and Patrick were finally able to get the victory with rounds of 65 in the morning and 64 in the afternoon to win by four shots in this best ball format. Ron has a long list of Michigan PGA Section victories and is a member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame but had yet to win  in what he estimates around 30 attempts participating in this event both as a professional and an assistant. This is also Patrick’s first Michigan PGA Section Tournament win which now exempts him for the Tournament of Champions at Boyne.

We had four teams that tied for second place at -9 under par for the tournament including Logan Simmonds and Tyler DeGood from the Country Club of Lansing, David Drisko and Tim Pearce from Birmingham Country Club, Luke Emrich and Gareth Lappin from Stonewater Country Club and Ron and his other assistant that he teamed up with Louis Redovich from the Country Club of Jackson.

We would like to thank our host site Wuskowhan Players Club.  The golf course was in wonderful shape and the staff did a great job hosting this event. A lot of the teams had not played here and were very impressed.

We would also like to thank our sponsors of this event :  Perry Weather, Winston Collection and Evolve Golf for supporting this event and the Michigan PGA Section.  Evolve Golf was on site and conducted a Total Driving Challenge Contest on Hole #10.
